Position Summary: The role involves executing commercial lending operations in alignment with Southside Bank's policies and procedures. The focus is on establishing new commercial client relationships while nurturing the existing customer base.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently identify and cultivate profitable new client relationships by leveraging existing connections and referral sources.
  • Enhance the Bank's profitability by developing new and strengthening existing business relationships.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to provide comprehensive banking solutions to clients, prospects, and communities.
  • Acquire and deepen deposit relationships while effectively cross-selling treasury products.
  • Negotiate appropriate loan structures and promote the Bank's credit and non-credit offerings.
  • Oversee, plan, and conduct periodic reviews of existing loan arrangements to ensure suitability and risk tolerance.
  • Evaluate and make decisions on client deposit and payment activities.
  • Engage in special projects that support team objectives and community involvement.
  • Maintain expertise in banking, credit and non-credit products, real estate, treasury management, and other banking functions.
  • Stay informed on accounting and financial principles, marketing and sales strategies, credit analysis, economics, and other banking functions.
  • Represent the bank professionally at public, social, and civic events.
  • Keep up-to-date with regulations, analyses, and current trends in banking through ongoing education and training.
  • Participate in weekly meetings, including Team Meetings and Director's Loan Committee meetings as requested.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Supervise support staff in their assignments and performance development.
  • Engage consistently with the community to identify and originate personal mortgages (if licensed and trained) at the branch level.
  • Conduct interviews with residential mortgage loan applicants and gather necessary information for thorough loan applications.
  • Adhere to all safety policies, practices, and procedures, reporting any unsafe activities to supervisors.
  • Contribute to team efforts aimed at achieving departmental and company objectives.
  • Provide leadership through example and knowledge sharing.
  • Attend various external meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Three to five years of direct lending or credit analyst experience with a focus on commercial/business relationships.
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial banking products and services.
  • Well-trained with a solid understanding of credit and underwriting processes.
  • Sales experience and familiarity with loan processing and closing procedures.
  • Postgraduate banking certification/training is preferred.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong ability to build and enhance customer relationships to expand loans and identify suitable bank products/services.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and business relationship skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Proficient in writing and responding to inquiries from various stakeholders.
  • Competence in calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages. Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.
  • Problem-solving skills; capable of collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Proficient in personal computer applications including email, record-keeping, databases, word processing, and spreadsheets.
  • Adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively.

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity to handle items and work with fingers.

Work Environment:

  • Indoor office setting with adequate lighting, heating, and ventilation.
  • Moderate noise levels typical of a business office environment.

Work Schedule:

  • Standard hours are Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Availability for overtime as needed.
