Job Summary

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled Social Security Liaison to join our team in the Administration for Children's Services (ACS). As a key member of our Child Welfare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to foster care agencies and ensuring the timely and accurate processing of Social Security numbers and cards for youth in foster care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead liaison for the Social Security process for all youth in foster care
  • Monitor the Social Security mailbox for new requests and provide customer service to foster care agencies
  • Perform Social Security number searches in the WMS system and liaise with the Social Security Administration
  • Prepare packages for Social Security cards from the Social Security Administration and coordinate with the FPS Office Manager to securely store Social Security cards
  • Confirm eligibility of requests for Social Security numbers for tax purposes and maintain a log of incoming requests
  • Manage childcare referral processes and determine eligibility of families for childcare vouchers
  • Supervise the Social Security and Childcare Referral Staff
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in one or a combination of the following fields: social work, psychology, sociology, human services, criminal justice, education, nursing, or cultural anthropology
  • At least 12 semester credits in one of these disciplines and 30 semester credits toward a Master's of Social Work or a graduate degree in a related field
  • At least 18 months of child welfare casework experience
