Clinical Liaison, Rehab Therapy Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Liaison to join our team at NYU Langone Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the preadmission screening program for Rusk Rehabilitation at all three sites. This role requires a working knowledge of all Rusk Institute Services and the ability to direct referrals and facilitate admissions to the most appropriate program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the appropriate admission of patients to inpatient services and assess potential candidates for transfer or admission to Rusk Rehabilitation through on-site evaluation, review of faxed clinical information, and/or telephone follow-up as indicated.
- Coordinate pre-admission review processes with physicians, patient access, nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, social work, language, cultural, and disability services, finance, social work, and/or case management, as needed.
- Assess medical stability of potential candidates for admission and make recommendations for alternative settings when inpatient admission is not indicated.
- Consult with admitting Rusk physicians concerning potential barriers to admission and maintain liaison with patient access and financial counselors to obtain required pre-admission financial clearance and certification.
- Alert the treating team to special needs of incoming patients and facilitate the timely completion of pre-admission financial clearance with patient access staff.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing, physical therapy, speech therapy, or occupational therapy, or a medical degree (MD or DO).
- Current New York State licensure for the appropriate discipline.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech language pathology, and/or business/health care management.
- Minimum of three years of acute inpatient rehabilitation experience.
