Job Summary:

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled Social Services Liaison to join our team. As a key member of our Child Welfare Services team, you will be responsible for providing critical support to foster care agencies and families in need. Your expertise in social services and child welfare will be instrumental in ensuring the well-being and safety of our city's most vulnerable populations.

Key Responsibilities:

* Serve as the lead liaison for the Social Security process for all youth in foster care
* Monitor the Social Security mailbox for new requests for numbers and cards
* Provide customer service to foster care agencies for requests for Social Security numbers or cards
* Perform Social Security Number search in WMS system
* Liaise with the Social Security Administration
* Prepare package for Social Security cards from the Social Security Administration
* Double-check that the information presented by the foster care agencies matches exactly the requirements of the Social Security Administration
* Coordinate with FPS Office Manager to securely store Social Security cards
* Confirm the eligibility of requests for Social Security numbers for tax purposes
* Maintain the log of incoming requests for Social Security numbers for tax purposes and Permanency planning

Requirements:

* A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in one or a combination of the following fields: social work, psychology, sociology, human services, criminal justice, education (including early childhood), nursing or cultural anthropology, at least 12 of which must have been in one of these disciplines, and 30 semester credits toward a Masters of Social Work or a graduate degree in a related field
* At least eighteen months of child welfare casework experience
