As a Control Systems Engineer II, you will collaborate with engineering teams to design, construct, and maintain specialized test equipment essential for the advancement of fuel cell power systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop control specifications for test systems to facilitate software development.
  • Create conceptual designs for test system Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Graphical User Interfaces (GUI), including program structure, user interface, tag schemes, automation, alarm systems, and data logging.
  • Generate comprehensive documentation for test systems, including safety risk assessments, P&IDs, operating procedures, and maintenance protocols.
  • Select and specify final control devices and instrumentation such as control valves, regulators, actuators, and various sensors.
  • Conduct calculations for control element sizing, pressure drop, fluid dynamics, and thermal loads.
  • Engage in testing automation systems and support commissioning activities with a focus on troubleshooting and performance optimization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electromechanical, or Chemical Engineering preferred).
  • A minimum of 3 years of engineering experience with a focus on automation of electromechanical systems.
  • Strong foundation in engineering principles including fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and electrical theory.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems and automation of testing environments.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, CAN, and serial communication.
  • Experience with PID controllers and tuning, as well as proficiency in LabVIEW and National Instruments hardware is advantageous.
  • Understanding of regulatory standards and compliance in engineering practices.

Travel Requirements: Up to 5% domestic travel may be necessary.

Physical Requirements: The role involves laboratory and office work environments, with the ability to lift components weighing up to 35 lbs.
