Job Summary:

The Optical Engineer will work with the interdisciplinary engineering team designing and developing new optical prescriptions for complex zoom and multispectral imaging systems for new and modified existing optical systems. The job will design, develop, tolerance, and analyze complex IR and multispectral optical systems. The position will also develop and maintain detailed design documentation and support the DFM and DFA activities and cost estimates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with Senior Optical engineers in the design and development of optical prescriptions.
  • Tolerance and analyze optical systems performance over temperature.
  • Work with the Opto mechanical engineers to ensure the optical design intent is consistent with DFM and DFA implemented by the Opto mechanical engineers.
  • Support the design and development of assembly and test fixtures to ensure they are consistent with the optical design, tolerances, and intent.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Prepare and support Design review activities.
  • Support production and QA with debug of issues and RMA assessments.
Requirements:
  • Technical degree with over 5 years related work experience (BS engineering or Physics).
  • Experience with imaging optical design principles, with some lens development experience.
  • Basic competence with Zemax or CODEV or FRED or other optical design package.
  • Experience with Infra optical systems and radiometry a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, particularly with highly technical content.
  • Ability to support multiple projects and competing priorities.
