Role Summary:
The primary objective for the Lead Systems Architect is to drive business growth by expertly designing cutting-edge aircraft power systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Innovative Power Solutions: Utilize your extensive technical expertise to create advanced electrical power systems that deliver significant advantages in terms of weight, cost, and reliability compared to conventional methods. You will oversee the definition of system and LRU requirements and lead verification activities. Documenting requirements for innovative airborne designs is essential. High-performing engineers who excel in power system product development are encouraged to apply.
  2. Building Customer Trust: Engage with clients to establish yourself as a trusted authority in the design and certification of aircraft electrical power systems. Your goal will be to foster confidence with key customers while showcasing Astronics' capabilities to meet their aircraft power requirements. Providing technical support and nurturing relationships will enhance our reputation as the industry leader.
  3. Technology Evaluation: Stay informed about emerging technology trends in power systems and provide informed recommendations based on your experience and certification standards regarding the practical application of these technologies.
  4. Collaborative Team Environment: Astronics is recognized as one of the premier workplaces in the Seattle area. Success hinges on working within a highly productive team. The Lead Systems Architect will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, test engineers, technicians, mechanical engineers, program management, software, manufacturing, and supply chain.
  5. Mentorship and Guidance: Develop strong working relationships with internal engineering teams to offer technical guidance, conduct peer reviews, and oversee power system designs. Your success will be measured by your ability to mentor less experienced engineers and contribute significantly to major design and peer reviews.

Qualifications:
Essential Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in requirements capture and management.
  • Proficient in authoring technical documents, including specifications and plans.
  • Experience in presenting technical information to clients and management.
  • Familiarity with a defined system development process.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Aerospace industry experience.
  • Knowledge of ARP4754A and DO-160 standards.
  • Experience with aircraft electrical power systems.
  • Familiarity with requirements capture tools.

Additional Skills:
  • Aerospace cybersecurity knowledge (DO-326, DO-356).
  • Experience in process improvement.
  • Simulation experience with electrical systems.
  • Proposal writing experience.
  • Familiarity with Polarion software.

Employment Eligibility:
  • Must be a US Person under ITAR regulations.
  • Employment is contingent upon passing a pre-employment background check and drug test.
