Role Summary:
As the Manager of Systems Engineering, you will be at the forefront of our global public cloud infrastructure. Your leadership will guide a dedicated team in the design, construction, and scaling of our core systems, which are integral to the ServiceNow product suite, operating within AWS and Azure environments. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a talented engineering team focused on the configuration, delivery, and validation of computing resources across both private and public cloud infrastructures.
- Collaborate with Product and Program management to outline and communicate the team's commitments and strategic roadmap.
- Facilitate team autonomy by aiding in project planning, prioritization, Agile methodologies, and professional development.
- Support the growth of team members through effective hiring practices, goal setting, and performance evaluations.
- Provide expert guidance on systems and process enhancements, participating actively in architectural assessments.
- Evaluate risks and vulnerabilities within core services to ensure high availability and operational excellence.
- Work in tandem with peer teams on intricate global engineering projects to ensure architectural alignment and resource management.
- Establish and uphold technical standards and best practices within your area of expertise.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in leading systems/software/hardware development and engineering within a global production environment.
- Strong technical knowledge in Linux, data center technologies, infrastructure automation, and DevOps methodologies.
- Proficiency in various infrastructure components, including hardware platforms, operating systems, virtualization technologies, and public cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience managing production services in public cloud environments at scale.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools in large-scale settings.
- A proven ability to navigate competing priorities in a dynamic work environment.
- Strong analytical skills to define issues, gather data, and draw informed conclusions.
- Experience in cross-functional collaboration to achieve consensus and drive projects to completion.
- Exceptional communication skills to convey technical direction while fostering team creativity.
