About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Line Cook to join our kitchen team at Lake Merced Golf Club. As a private, members-only club, we pride ourselves in offering exceptional hospitality to our members and guests in a warm and professional atmosphere.

The ideal candidate will be a passionate and self-motivated cook who is dedicated to preparing high-quality dishes for our diners. The Line Cook will be responsible for maintaining menu efficiency and food production for each of the various areas throughout the clubhouse, including our Restaurant, Quick Turn, and Banquet Room.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation: Prepare food including cleaning and cutting ingredients and cooking main dishes, desserts, appetizers, and snacks.
  • Plating and Presentation: Plate prepared foods based on the Executive Chef's guidance.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with servers to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on time.
  • Cleanliness and Sanitation: Wash and clean the kitchen and cooking utensils and store equipment at the end of shifts.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations.
  • Menu Execution: Ensure that recipes and menus are executed to the expected level of standard for all restaurant outlets and club events.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Make recommendations for maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the kitchen, its equipment, and other areas of the club.
  • Food Quality Evaluation: Evaluate food products to ensure that quality standards are consistently obtained.
Requirements

  • Kitchen Experience: Previous kitchen experience (2+ years preferred).
  • Cooking Techniques and Styles: Experience in a wide range of cooking techniques and styles.
  • Direction and Quality Standards: Ability to follow direction and meet quality standards.
  • Availability: Flexible availability.
  • CA State Serv-Safe Certification: CA State Serv-Safe certification required.
Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common professional journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles, for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
