This team manages all facets of electric distribution and transmission operations, encompassing planning, engineering, maintenance, construction, and emergency response.

Position Summary:

In the role of a Transmission Cableman, you will be responsible for patrolling and inspecting underground transmission lines, executing maintenance tasks, and operating equipment associated with underground line operations. A valid Class B California Driver's License is required, and the position may involve switching, structure maintenance, and emergency response duties.

This role falls under the Department of Transportation and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing protocols.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Conduct patrols and inspections of underground transmission lines
  • Carry out maintenance and construction activities on underground lines
  • Effectively communicate with customers and team members
  • Promptly assess and resolve issues
  • Travel to various locations as needed
  • Work on live lines when necessary
  • Prioritize safety in confined space operations
  • Assist or lead a crew in transmission-related tasks
Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in high voltage electric construction
  • Completion of a lineworker apprenticeship program
  • Proficient in reading technical diagrams
  • Capability to lift heavy loads and work under varying conditions
  • Valid driver's license and readiness to travel
  • Completion of mandatory company training
  • Additional requirements may apply for internal and external candidates
Desired Qualifications:
  • Residing near headquarters for potential emergency response
  • Previous experience in lineworker positions
  • Familiarity with underground network systems
  • Experience in electrical maintenance
  • Class A California Driver's License with Hazmat Endorsement preferred
  • Knowledge of transmission systems
  • Basic computer and mobile device proficiency
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities
  • Ability to safely work on energized lines
