Position Overview:

The Lead Radiologic Technologist is tasked with executing a range of radiographic, fluoroscopic, and specialized imaging procedures at a proficient level, requiring minimal oversight, under the guidance of a radiologist and Radiology Administration. This role involves collaboration with departmental and interdisciplinary teams to guarantee high-quality patient care and effective departmental operations. Compliance with MQSA regulations is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Image Quality: Consistently generates high-quality digital images adhering to hospital protocols and departmental standards, ensuring patient safety and minimizing repeat rates.

2. Documentation: Diligently completes all necessary documentation in line with hospital and departmental protocols, including exam details, billing, film labeling, and data entry. Performs additional clerical tasks as required, such as ordering supplies, retrieving patient files, and scheduling appointments.

3. Clinical Information: Gathers pertinent patient clinical information that may influence diagnostic imaging, including allergy history and pregnancy status. Communicates this information effectively to the relevant clinical personnel and radiologist.

4. Competency and Training: Maintains clinical proficiency by actively engaging in in-service education, fulfilling departmental competency requirements, and participating in ongoing educational opportunities. Aids in the training of departmental staff and students with a positive approach.

5. Infection Control: Assists medical doctors and other personnel in preparing for and conducting procedures, strictly adhering to sterile techniques and infection control standards.

6. Workflow Management: Assesses personal and departmental workload to ensure efficient patient care delivery. Prioritizes tasks based on urgency and available resources, responding adeptly in emergency situations. May assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the department supervisor.

7. Quality Control and Improvement: Understands and implements departmental quality control and improvement initiatives, performing assigned QC/QI activities. Demonstrates awareness of National Patient Safety Goals and applies these standards throughout daily interactions with patients.

8. Resource Utilization: Efficiently utilizes supplies and resources in all duties, ensuring cost-effectiveness. May oversee specific inventory management and the stocking of supplies while maintaining a clean and organized department.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:
Satisfactorily completed formal training in Radiologic Technology from an AMA accredited institution.

EXPERIENCE:
Must demonstrate proficiency in four modalities or possess ten years of relevant experience, or have competency in Interventional Cath Lab, IR, Nuc Med, MRI, CT, or Mammography.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
- CRT, Fluoroscopy Permit in accordance with California State regulations within six months of hire.
- ARRT certification.
- CPR certification.
- CRT-Mammography for all mammography technologists.
- RT V certification with advanced credentialing in the primary modality practiced.
