Job Overview

Position Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Role Purpose: Under the guidance of an Occupational Therapist (OTR/L), the Occupational Therapy Assistant will deliver both direct and consultative occupational therapy services to assigned students. The focus will be on providing specialized treatment for children facing emotional disturbances, developmental delays, cognitive challenges, intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders (ASD), and other health impairments.

Compensation:

  • COTA with 0-5 Years: $33 - $40 /Hr
  • COTA with 5-10 Years: $40 - $45 /Hr
  • COTA with 10+ Years: $45 - $50 /Hr

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in evaluating fine motor, perceptual motor, sensorimotor, and oral motor functions.
  • Collaborate with the occupational therapist to establish therapeutic objectives.
  • Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as required.
  • Engage in a cooperative approach with therapists, educators, parents, and classroom personnel.
  • Comply with organizational policies regarding work hours and student schedules.
  • Deliver intervention services to achieve goals outlined in the IEP.
  • Provide guidance and support to classroom staff on positioning, handling, and curricular access strategies.
  • Assist with administrative tasks as needed.
  • Help identify and fulfill students' adaptive equipment requirements.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to manage challenging behaviors.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Occupational Therapy Assistant Certification from the relevant regulatory body.
  • Experience in educational or therapeutic settings for students with learning and emotional challenges.
  • Background check clearance and health certifications as required.
  • Knowledge of standard business practices and proficiency in relevant software applications.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Dependability and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
