Licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Role Purpose: Under the guidance of an Occupational Therapist (OTR/L), the Occupational Therapy Assistant will deliver both direct and consultative occupational therapy services to assigned students. The focus will be on providing quality, specialized treatment for children facing emotional disturbances, developmental delays, cognitive challenges, intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders (ASD), and other health impairments.

Compensation:

For COTAs with:

  • 0-5 Years: $33 - $40 /Hr
  • 5-10 Years: $40 - $45 /Hr
  • 10+ Years: $45 - $50 /Hr

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in assessing fine motor, perceptual motor, sensorimotor, and oral motor functions.
  • Collaborate with the occupational therapist to establish therapeutic goals.
  • Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as required.
  • Work collaboratively with therapists, educators, parents, and classroom teams.
  • Comply with company policies regarding work hours and student schedules.
  • Deliver intervention services to students to achieve IEP goals.
  • Consult and guide classroom teams on positioning, handling, and curricular access strategies.
  • Support administrative tasks as needed.
  • Assist in identifying and addressing students' adaptive equipment needs.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to manage challenging behaviors.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

For Full-Time School Assignments:

  • While employment is at-will, therapists are expected to fulfill 206 workdays during the academic year, including in-person instruction and preparation time.
  • Our operational calendar spans from July 1 to June 30, with the academic year typically running from August to mid-July.
  • Therapists are encouraged to take vacations during school breaks and summer months.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Occupational Therapy Assistant Certification from the California Board of Occupational Therapy (CBOT)
  • Experience in a school or treatment setting for students with learning and/or social-emotional challenges.
  • Background clearance through DOJ/FBI Live Scan & TB clearance.
  • Pro-Act, CPI, and/or CPR certification is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with standard business practices and procedures.
  • Proficient in computer applications and internet usage.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional written documentation capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in written and verbal English communication, including business writing.
  • Dependability, reliability, and adaptability.
