Responsibilities

The Adult Community Clinical Services is a Department of Mental Health funded initiative aimed at delivering evidence-based interventions within a clinically focused framework. Individuals served are diagnosed with mental health conditions or dual diagnoses and reside in various living arrangements. Our services emphasize assisting individuals in transitioning to more independent living while maximizing their natural supports through skill-building and achieving personal goals. Our teams are cohesive, supportive, and multidisciplinary.

The Sign Language Interpreter will facilitate ASL interpretation to assist the ACCS team in delivering services to Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals. This role is essential for enabling communication between Deaf and hearing staff, as well as between Deaf individuals and hearing staff. The position supports the Leominster and Worcester regions and requires occasional travel to various program locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing interpretation for in-person and virtual staff training sessions, meetings among staff members, and team meetings involving individuals served by the program.
  • Interpreting for small group gatherings between individuals served and staff, as well as for clinical assessments between individuals served and clinical staff members.
  • Occasionally traveling to individuals' homes or community locations to interpret between hearing staff and Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing individuals served.
  • Collaborating with external interpreters for assignments that require a second interpreter.
  • Educating trainers and meeting leaders on creating a Deaf-friendly environment at the start of each training or meeting.


Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent, required.
  • Current National Interpreter Certification (NIC) from the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf and a minimum of 2 years of ASL interpreting experience, required.
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record, required.
  • Reliability, willingness to learn, and openness to new opportunities.

Compensation details: $29.65 Hourly Wage
