Retail Operations Supervisor

Position Overview

Under the guidance of the Store Manager, the Retail Operations Supervisor will oversee the daily activities of the store, ensuring the implementation of company policies, procedures, and programs to meet sales and profitability objectives while minimizing losses, labor costs, and other controllable expenses. This role can be structured as full-time or part-time based on the store's requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Performance

Enhance sales outcomes by:

  • Assisting the Store Manager in fostering a sales-driven atmosphere through the execution of corporate sales strategies.
  • Helping manage expenses related to sales performance, gross profit, markdowns, inventory shrinkage, damages, supplies, and labor.
  • Collaborating with the Store Manager to achieve or surpass targeted gross margins through effective inventory oversight from procurement to sales, including promotional activities and pricing adjustments.

Customer Engagement

Guarantee that team members deliver exceptional customer service consistently.

Supervise the recovery process to uphold company standards throughout the store.

In the absence of the Store Manager, promptly address customer inquiries and complaints in a friendly manner.

Assist the Store Manager in training staff on the company's customer service principles and current promotional activities.

Merchandising and Store Presentation

In the Store Manager's absence, guide and oversee staff in evaluating the sales floor for seasonal trends, product quality, and presentation to ensure compliance with company directives.

Support the Store Manager in executing merchandise presentation initiatives, ensuring the store maintains an appealing visual standard.

Staff Development and Training

Assist the Store Manager in cultivating knowledgeable teams to drive sales and customer satisfaction while maintaining store standards.

Support the Store Manager in achieving optimal staffing levels through effective recruitment and hiring practices.

Facilitate the orientation and cross-training of new employees to ensure consistent adherence to company protocols.

Leadership and Communication

Build cohesive teams by:

  • Effectively communicating store policies, procedures, and objectives to team members.
  • Ensuring adherence to company policies and fostering an environment where associates feel comfortable sharing innovative ideas.
  • Encouraging open communication regarding concerns and feedback.

Loss Prevention and Safety

Collaborate with the Store Manager to ensure accurate record-keeping, including cash handling and sales transactions.

Assist in maintaining compliance with company loss prevention strategies and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

2-3 years of recent experience in retail and supervisory roles is required. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of accounting principles, inventory management, merchandising, and human resource management.

Excellent communication skills are essential for effective interaction with customers and team members.

Ability to lead, make informed decisions, and resolve conflicts while demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills.

Must exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills to address any associate or customer issues positively.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to frequently lift and carry items weighing less than 5 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Frequent standing, walking, and other physical activities are required to maintain store operations.

Continuous verbal communication with team members and customers is necessary.
