As the Senior Manager of Business Development at Anixter International, you will spearhead the identification, analysis, and cultivation of new business ventures aligned with our sales and financial goals. Your role will encompass the creation of robust business strategies aimed at driving revenue, broadening product offerings, penetrating new markets, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directs research and development initiatives to leverage company strengths, pinpoint potential markets, and amplify market share, thereby fortifying Anixter's competitive edge.
- Acts as a representative in the assessment, negotiation, and establishment of acquisitions, partnerships, alliances, and joint ventures in both existing and emerging business sectors.
- Identifies, quantifies, and documents cost-saving opportunities related to both direct and indirect expenditures, as well as value-added service programs.
- Designs and executes business development activities, including product gap analysis, account discovery processes, and comprehensive organizational engagement.
- Leads a team of skilled Business Development professionals, overseeing complex support and operational teams or managing significant business processes/projects.
- Sets annual objectives and priorities to achieve operational outcomes derived from business development efforts and communicated to the sales division.
- Responsible for the revenue performance and profitability metrics of the collective team.
- Regularly prepares, reviews, and submits necessary documentation and reports to Finance and management regarding ongoing business status, including forecasts of future performance.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience required.
- 8+ years of experience in financial analysis, sales, and negotiation is essential.
- In-depth knowledge of the industry, including suppliers, customers, and competitors.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong capabilities in business analysis, financial modeling, and negotiation.
- Proven ability to initiate and nurture relationships with key decision-makers both internally and externally.
- Skilled in identifying new business opportunities and swiftly evaluating their potential.
- Proficient in analyzing financial and operational data, including statements and projections.
- Adept at recognizing and cultivating external resources.
- Ability to establish trust-based relationships.
- Competent in resolving complex technical problems; analyzes intricate issues and formulates solutions.
- Capable of adapting plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges in a dynamic environment.
- Preferred: 10+ years of directly related experience.
- Preferred: 10+ years of experience in financial analysis, sales, and negotiation.
- Familiarity with Anixter's existing business lines, strengths, and challenges is preferred.
- Ability to accurately identify when additional company resources are necessary.
- Willingness to travel 50% - 75% of the time.
