Job OverviewPosition Summary

The Gourmet Market Supervisor is tasked with overseeing the daily functions of our market, which includes the selection, development, and performance evaluation of team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure adherence to company standards and service levels to boost sales while minimizing expenses, including food, beverage, supply, utility, and labor costs.
  • Responsible for training and developing all new front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) staff.
  • Maintain a guest-centric approach while executing responsibilities.
  • Monitor operational expenses to ensure alignment with budgetary constraints.
  • Possess knowledge of budgets and ensure compliance with profit expectations.
  • Facilitate the development and training of front-of-house personnel.
  • Delegate tasks related to supply ordering and follow up to ensure accuracy.
  • Conduct weekly and monthly inventory checks and update beverage pricing on spreadsheets.
  • Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and upkeep of kitchen and dining areas.
  • Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Uphold a professional market image, including cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards.
  • Guarantee positive guest service across all areas.
  • Address complaints effectively, taking necessary actions to convert dissatisfied guests into repeat customers.
  • Implement proper security measures to safeguard team members, guests, and company assets.
  • Maintain a safe working and guest environment to minimize the risk of injuries and accidents.
  • Complete accident reports promptly in the event of an injury to a guest or team member.
  • Assist in menu planning, development, and meal specials.
  • Ensure adherence to cash management controls by all food and beverage staff, in accordance with policy.
  • Manage shifts, which include daily decision-making, scheduling, maintaining attendance logs, and upholding service standards, product quality, and cleanliness.
  • Investigate and resolve complaints regarding food quality and service.
  • Provide direction and communication to team members concerning operational information and procedural changes.
  • Support team member development through ongoing feedback.
  • Maintain an accurate and current staffing plan for the market with trained and competent individuals.
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of all departmental policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Be familiar with resort services, amenities, and offerings.
  • Be available for work assignments outside of the typical managerial schedule, including evenings, catering events, weekends, and holidays.
  • Adhere to all Store Market policies and procedures as communicated by management.
  • Assist in areas as needed to ensure guest service standards and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Human Resources Director in documentation and performance management.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Outstanding customer service and leadership abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management capabilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate effectively when necessary.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in retail management, particularly in market operations, with increasing levels of responsibility.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
