Position Overview

The Lead Process Engineer, Microfluidics is responsible for the advancement and implementation of effective processing techniques for the post-processing of 3D printed lung structures intended for tissue engineering applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and establish reliable processing methodologies for washing, peptide conjugation, and sterilization of large-scale 3D printed scaffolds to ensure compatibility for cellular integration.
  • Create assays to evaluate perfusion and processing techniques of 3D printed scaffolds.
  • Oversee the management and execution of routine quality control testing for 3D printed scaffolds.
  • Monitor the compatibility of bioreactors and perfusion systems with post-processing techniques.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant industry experience in process chemistry, medical devices, or microfluidics development, with a Master’s degree in process chemistry, biomedical engineering, microfluidics, chemical engineering, or a related discipline; or 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD in the same fields.
  • Technical proficiency in scaling chemical processes and surface chemistry, including experience with surfactants.
  • Prior experience in the post-processing of medical devices, including washing, rinsing, and coatings.
  • Expertise in UV spectroscopic methods, micro-CT, tomography, and particle size analysis.
  • Experience in assay development, validation, and quality control.
  • Proficiency in standard software for word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to present data effectively.
  • A self-motivated approach to following experimental protocols and methods.
