DEKA Research & Development is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for the development of innovative medical devices from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD Solid Modeling
  • Transition concepts into products by defining requirements, selecting materials and processes, and interacting with suppliers and manufacturers
  • Troubleshoot design failure modes to root cause and develop quick, effective solutions
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product development
  • Evaluate designs through prototype testing and requirement verification
  • Technical review and approval for all mechanical component and assembly designs, analysis, and testing
  • Set an excellent example of mechanical engineering practices and provide mentorship to less knowledgeable engineers

Requirements:

  • BS, Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • 3+ years' experience designing electromechanical products
  • Demonstrated experience designing parts using various manufacturing methods
  • Proficient user of Solidworks or other comparable CAD software
  • Surfacing experience a plus
  • Must have experience producing engineering drawings and fundamental GD&T knowledge
  • Must have experience with finite element analysis and tolerance analysis
  • Must have experience taking projects from design to production and the ability to describe personal contributions to each of the products
  • Experience designing medical equipment is a plus
  • Experience designing dynamic systems with electro-mechanical devices is a plus
  • Must be able to work in an open group environment
