Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer

Position Overview

Supervise the formulation and execution of manufacturing methodologies to ensure optimal product performance and cost-effectiveness. Facilitate seamless interaction between the engineering division and other production sectors. Establish best practices to enhance manufacturing workflows. This role necessitates extensive expertise in diverse manufacturing techniques, guidance of engineering personnel, and interdepartmental collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Development: Design and implement manufacturing and inspection protocols.
  • Routing Creation: Develop manufacturing routings aligned with project specifications provided by engineering teams.
  • Work Instructions: Generate and uphold work instructions and setup documentation.
  • Control Plans: Formulate control plans for essential features.
  • Customer Compliance: Establish inspection criteria to fulfill contractual obligations.
  • Process Enhancement: Advocate for process innovation and refinement to boost manufacturing quality and productivity.
  • Defect Analysis: Identify and rectify the root causes of quality issues in current manufacturing practices.
  • Product Flow Optimization: Aid in the design of facilities, equipment, and operations for improved spatial and product flow efficiency.
  • Tool and Fixture Development: Create tools, fixtures, and testing apparatus necessary for production.
  • Technology Identification: Discover new manufacturing technologies and machinery to minimize costs and risks while enhancing efficiencies.
  • NPI Collaboration: Assist in new product introductions (NPI) and existing orders in partnership with Program Managers and Project Engineers to achieve delivery targets.
  • Professional Standards: Uphold responsibility and accountability for fostering a professional, safe, and organized workspace by adhering to company policies, consistently wearing safety gear in designated areas, maintaining cleanliness, and following safety protocols.
  • Team Collaboration: Show dedication to teamwork by building effective relationships and networks with both management and staff, working together to achieve common objectives.
  • Ethical Conduct: Comply with the company's Code of Ethics and Business Conduct standards while strictly adhering to all applicable laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in developing manufacturing processes for machining, welding, and/or electromechanical assembly.
  • 3+ years of experience in a defense/aerospace job shop environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, sandblasting, painting, coating, plating, welding, straightening, heat treating, assembly, non-destructive testing, and mechanical testing.
  • Proven understanding of GD&T.
  • Experience in interpreting detailed engineering schematics.
  • Experience in project management roles.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in SolidWorks.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance is advantageous.
  • Capability to mentor both engineering and shop personnel.
  • Proficient in Root Cause and Corrective Action analysis.
  • Able to operate within ERP/MRP guidelines.
  • Ability to establish engineering standards to optimize engineering tasks.
