About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Energy Sector Analyst to contribute to our mission of creating a sustainable energy future. At Octopus Energy Group, we leverage technology to drive significant advancements in the energy landscape.

Team Overview

Our Industry Analytics division is a newly formed sector within our broader Industry Implementation group. We focus on establishing a robust foundation of energy industry knowledge across various markets. As an Energy Sector Analyst, you will utilize your specialized expertise to identify and resolve critical challenges for our clients and their consumers. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the effective management of industry data and supporting our Tech and Product teams in developing compliant and efficient solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize your comprehensive understanding of local energy stakeholders, regulatory frameworks, and data exchange processes to:
  • Identify issues and take responsibility for their resolution, from conducting root cause analysis to implementing solutions.
  • Assist in troubleshooting errors and discrepancies in industry communications.
  • Monitor the performance of our industry products to swiftly identify and address potential issues, ensuring a seamless experience for end consumers.
  • Assess compliance requirements and collaborate with Tech teams to implement necessary changes.
  • Engage with tech, product, and client teams to identify enhancements needed in our offerings.
  • Gather requirements and assist in drafting project proposals to facilitate the development of new initiatives.
  • Prioritize tasks that focus on delivering valuable and purposeful solutions.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring dashboards and alert systems.
  • Create frameworks and documentation to promote self-service capabilities within the organization.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and tools relevant to the energy sector.
Qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of the Energy Industry in your local market, particularly from the supplier's perspective.
  • Attention to detail to assist in identifying and resolving errors.
  • A strong curiosity and passion for problem-solving.
  • A data-driven mindset with a focus on outcomes, recognizing priorities effectively.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and automation opportunities.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and define complex problems.
  • Project management capabilities, including excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • A passion for learning across various disciplines.
  • Strong listening skills to harness innovative ideas from diverse sources.
  • Willingness to work from our designated office location.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in data analysis or a strong desire to learn.
  • Familiarity with data visualization and dashboard creation.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL or a willingness to learn.
