POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Project Manager for Additive Manufacturing is responsible for overseeing projects related to New Product Innovation (NPI) in the field of additive manufacturing technology. This role reports directly to the Director of the Project Management Office (PMO) and collaborates closely with the Orchid additive manufacturing team and external customer teams to plan and execute projects aimed at expanding Orchid's additive manufacturing business. The position requires interaction with site leadership and involves leading large-scale multi-site programs, including reporting project status to the executive leadership team. This is a hybrid role, requiring four days on-site at our Lansing facility, with occasional domestic travel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead project teams to achieve objectives for complex projects that may involve multiple Orchid facilities.
  • Organize and direct project operations encompassing engineering design, procurement of subcontracts, manufacturing, assembly, testing, and project closure using Orchid's project management methodologies.
  • Manage the development and preparation of business cases, cost/benefit analyses, and project budgets.
  • Identify and negotiate schedules, milestones, and resources necessary to meet project goals; prioritize tasks based on capacity, deadlines, and critical paths.
  • Engage key stakeholders and foster their active participation; maintain relationships across multi-functional teams.
  • Ensure clear project scope and manage changes, communications, issues, and risks to achieve project objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate key project deliverables; report progress in terms of quality, financial, and performance metrics to relevant stakeholders.
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of all project team members; facilitate problem resolution and provide leadership and training to project participants.
  • Oversee project financial performance to ensure quality, delivery, and service within the established budget.
  • Develop comprehensive project management controls for complex initiatives.
  • Provide performance feedback to the manager of each project team member.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring effective communication between the customer and project team to guarantee complete satisfaction.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management processes.
  • Support quality and compliance by adhering to all Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) requirements, ensuring documentation meets/exceeds Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for quality, safety, compliance, and financial objectives.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree (Required)

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 3 years in project leadership, including 1-2 years managing complex projects (Required)
  • 4+ years of experience in manufacturing (Preferred)
  • Experience in project management (Preferred)

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • 10% travel may be necessary

CERTIFICATIONS

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) (Preferred)
