POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Project Manager for Additive Manufacturing oversees initiatives related to New Product Innovation (NPI) in additive manufacturing technology. Reporting directly to the Director of PMO, this role collaborates closely with the additive manufacturing team and external customer teams to strategize and implement projects aimed at expanding Orchid's additive manufacturing capabilities. This position requires regular interaction with site leadership and entails managing large-scale, multi-site programs, including providing project status updates to the executive leadership team. The role is hybrid, requiring four days on-site at our Lansing facility, with occasional domestic travel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads project teams to achieve objectives for complex projects that involve significant scope and risk across multiple Orchid facilities.
  • Organizes and directs project operations encompassing engineering design, procurement, manufacturing, assembly, testing, and project closure, utilizing Orchid's project management methodologies and tools.
  • Manages the development and preparation of business cases, cost/benefit analyses, and project budgets.
  • Identifies and negotiates schedules, milestones, and resources necessary to fulfill project objectives; prioritizes tasks based on capacity, deadlines, and critical paths.
  • Engages key stakeholders and fosters their active participation; maintains relationships across multi-functional teams.
  • Ensures clarity of project scope and manages changes, communications, issues, and risks to achieve project goals.
  • Monitors and maintains key project deliverables; evaluates and reports progress in terms of quality, financial, and performance metrics to relevant stakeholders.
  • Understands the roles and responsibilities of all project team members; coordinates problem resolution and provides leadership and training to project team participants.
  • Maintains high standards for managerial duties and responsibilities.
  • Oversees project financial performance to ensure quality, delivery, and service within the established budget.
  • Develops comprehensive project management controls for complex initiatives.
  • Provides performance feedback to the manager of each project team participant.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for customers, facilitating communication between the customer and the project team to ensure complete satisfaction.
  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of the project management process.
  • Supports quality and compliance by adhering to all Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) requirements, including documentation standards, and works to meet/exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for quality in areas such as safety, compliance, Six Sigma quality, and on-time delivery.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree (Required)

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of project leadership experience, including 1-2 years managing complex projects (Required)
  • 4+ years of experience in manufacturing (Preferred)
  • Experience in project management (Preferred)

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • 10% - Some travel may be necessary

CERTIFICATIONS

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) - Practice Management Institute (PMI) (Preferred)
