Position Overview
In a rapidly changing technological and social landscape, developing and executing effective product and business strategies requires a highly skilled and engaged team. The Digital & Data Business Planning Department is responsible for steering the strategy and implementation of Honda's digital services. As vehicles become increasingly connected, Honda is focused on creating industry-leading digital services and programs that enhance customer satisfaction. This team is dedicated to reinforcing Honda's core brand values and improving brand image and competitiveness in the market by innovating new businesses, features, products, and services in the digital space, ensuring customer value, competitiveness, and profitability for Honda in North America.

We are in search of a dedicated and experienced Principal Business Development Specialist for HondaLink and AcuraLink connected services. This role will oversee business aspects to advance Honda's objectives in this domain while maintaining a customer-centric focus. This position offers a chance to impact a crucial and evolving segment of Honda's digital products, subscriptions, and services platform. The selected candidate will collaborate with the Unit Lead and various global stakeholders, contributing to Honda's future in Software Defined Vehicles (SDV) and digital services strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning and Execution:
    Oversee the business components of HondaLink and AcuraLink connected services, including strategic planning, ideation, and market entry strategies.
  • Develop and present business proposals for executive endorsement.
  • Become proficient in the drivers, levers, KPIs, and financial aspects of the HondaLink and AcuraLink business model.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to enhance awareness and value of HondaLink and AcuraLink throughout the customer journey.
  • Position Honda as a frontrunner in digital services and connected vehicles.
  • Elevate Honda's brand image by delivering innovative solutions that fulfill customer expectations.
  • Stay informed about the connected vehicle landscape, including competitive offerings, customer needs, and industry trends.
  • Coordinate with American Honda and Honda Motor Japan to formulate and implement customer-focused business strategies.
  • Draft comprehensive Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) as necessary.
  • Engage with a diverse array of cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on objectives and brand values.

Financial Performance and Profitability:

  • Enhance pricing models and profitability while ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct simulations and monitor financial elements of connected initiatives, including revenue streams from digital services across various platforms.
  • Evaluate KPIs related to profitability and adjust strategies as needed.

Partnership Development and Negotiation:

  • Identify potential partners and collaborators to advance HondaLink and AcuraLink strategies.
  • Negotiate business agreements with partners.
  • Utilize partnerships to strengthen Honda's competitive position in North America.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • An MBA is preferred.
  • 8-10 years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, consulting, IT, engineering, or product marketing roles.
  • 8+ years of experience in high-tech subscription or service-based products in B2C or B2B settings, including strategic planning, ideation, and market entry strategies, particularly in automotive, connected car, software, media, or Internet of Things (IoT).
  • 8+ years of experience in evaluating and analyzing data and analytics, particularly for recurring, subscription-based revenue, with a focus on detail and data-driven decision-making.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to excel in ambiguous environments and operate at both strategic and tactical levels.
  • Self-Driven: Capability to work independently and respond swiftly in a dynamic environment.
  • Results Oriented: Strong attention to detail while maintaining a focus on broader business objectives and achieving company goals.
  • Bias For Action: A strong sense of product/domain ownership and a proactive approach.
  • Financial Literacy: Ability to interpret financial data, assess ROI, and make informed decisions.
  • Negotiation Skills: Proficient in negotiating contracts and partnerships.
  • Sales Pitch: Ability to articulate the value proposition of vehicle connectivity to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Technical Literacy: Understanding of technology design principles to collaborate effectively with technical teams.
  • Effective Communication: Ability to convey complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product teams, engineers, marketing, and sales to align business objectives.
  • Presentation Skills: Capable of delivering compelling presentations to executives and internal teams.
