The IT Business Systems Consultant plays a crucial role in the strategic planning, design, and enhancement of software applications. This position collaborates closely with various business units to align information systems technology with organizational needs, ensuring effective solutions are implemented. Key responsibilities include:

  • Engaging with project leaders and business stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and anticipated benefits.
  • Conducting comprehensive interviews to gather user requirements, develop use cases, and assess scenarios. Ensuring requirements are complete, consistent, and clear, while prioritizing them in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Facilitating peer reviews of business requirements to confirm accurate interpretation and understanding.
  • Translating user requirements into functional specifications that are easily understood by the development team. Creating process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to guide the project team.
  • Reviewing existing applications and documentation to gain a thorough understanding of current systems.
  • Developing system specifications, diagrams, and charts to direct system developers. Analyzing existing applications to evaluate the impact of proposed changes.
  • Coordinating and executing detailed testing, including end-user evaluations for new and modified systems. Providing training and orientation to users for all new systems.
  • Assisting and advising the technical team in resolving system-related challenges.
  • Overseeing testing processes, validating performance, and ensuring support until systems reach a steady state.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT business analysis.
  • Demonstrated expertise in analyzing, eliciting, and verifying business and technical requirements for medium to large-scale projects.
  • Proficient in creating clear and systematic requirements specifications in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Strong ability to identify best practices and provide technical support throughout all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience participating in business meetings and walkthroughs to analyze issues and provide user support.
  • Advanced skills in developing and updating technical design specifications, diagrams, flowcharts, and deployment plans.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering principles, software development, and solution architecture for medium to large-scale systems across various platforms.
  • Ability to assess the corporate impact of changes and recommend strategies to senior management.
  • Excellent comprehension of organizational goals and objectives.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and take initiative.
  • Exceptional analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong listening, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and efficient with a logical approach.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
