Job Overview

Position Summary

This role is pivotal in managing the daily activities of production wells, which includes monitoring performance metrics, planning and executing workover and facility initiatives, enhancing recovery rates, reducing operational costs, and optimizing both artificial-lift and pipeline systems. The individual will collaborate closely with teams in completions, land management, and marketing to safeguard the value of parent wells during infill development and offset well planning. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee production operations, analyzing costs and profitability while exploring additional development opportunities through workovers and surface optimization.
  • Collaborate with field superintendents and foremen to monitor operating expenses, identifying high-cost areas to maintain the lowest possible lifting costs.
  • Develop annual volume and expense budgets.
  • Prepare Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) documents and protocols for workovers, recompletions, and facility projects.
  • Review all expenditures related to properties within the designated area.
  • Diagnose production issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Select appropriate equipment for both surface and downhole applications.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Monitor well tests and production volumes to enhance and sustain production levels.
  • Work collaboratively with reservoir and geology teams to identify and develop behind-pipe reserves.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in artificial lift systems and implement cost-effective solutions.
  • Engage daily with production superintendents, foremen, well site supervisors, pumpers, service providers, landowners, and regulatory personnel.
  • Contribute effectively within a team-oriented environment, both in office settings and field operations.
  • Coordinate with superintendents and operators to schedule annual well evaluations.
  • Collaborate with surface operations, marketing, and land departments to plan for downtime on a weekly basis.
  • Work closely with the land department to ensure compliance with land requirements for all projects.
  • Be prepared for occasional field travel and extended hours on short notice.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in production and operations, with field experience considered an advantage.
  • Expertise in oil and gas production operations, workovers/recompletions, surface facilities, new well completions, and P&L evaluation/optimization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Able to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational abilities.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proven experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) practices.
  • Experience in completion and artificial lift design and implementation, particularly in horizontal wells.

Additional Skills

  • Some experience with horizontal well completions in both conventional and unconventional assets.
  • Comprehensive operations experience with saltwater disposal (SWD) wells, producing wells, facilities, and surface operations.
  • Ability to conduct economic analysis using Aries software.

Working Conditions

This position involves light physical work primarily in an office environment, which includes sitting with occasional periods of stooping, walking, and standing. The role may require lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling weights between 10-25 pounds.
