Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Design Engineer plays a crucial role in facilitating the smooth operation of manufacturing processes. This involves issuing precise work directives, ensuring prompt responses to inquiries, scheduling workstations, and managing the flow of components to production areas. The role also encompasses recognizing opportunities for process enhancements and proposing effective solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop shop routers (work directives) based on engineering data releases, ensuring all pertinent information is included. Follow up with floor staff to verify that instructions are clear and actionable.
  • Organize the shop schedule with tasks and estimated hours according to the routers dispatched to the production floor.
  • Address inquiries from shop floor personnel, which may necessitate coordination with engineering or other departments. Ensure timely responses and clarity in feedback.
  • Identify chances to standardize routers to replace job-specific instructions created by engineering.
  • Take a proactive role in overseeing 'shop jobs', which are primarily managed by the shop with minimal engineering input.
  • Uphold a safe working environment and demonstrate a commitment to safety excellence.
  • Lead initiatives for process and product improvements within the shop.
  • Explore advancements in technology and equipment to enhance efficiency and product quality.
  • Assist in the recruitment and assessment of new team members.
  • Collaborate with other departments and suppliers as necessary to ensure timely project completion.
  • Engage in manufacturing team activities to achieve established objectives.
  • Deliver exceptional levels of service to both internal and external customers.
  • Additional projects and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of the company.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.

Knowledge and Skills:

The following are the essential qualifications required for this position:

  • Experience working with collaborative teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred.
  • Strong analytical capabilities.
  • Prior experience as a process leader and familiarity with productivity tools is advantageous.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven ability to complete assignments successfully.
  • Capacity to anticipate and meet customer needs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years in a design engineering or manufacturing engineering capacity.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • This position is full-time.
  • Evening and weekend work may be required based on company needs.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is necessary.
  • Must be authorized to work legally.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
