Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 12-8 pm (some weekends, as needed)

Salary Band: $51,000 - $53,550/year

Position Overview: The Facilities Assistant plays a crucial role in overseeing and participating in the comprehensive management of maintenance, operations, and security tasks related to the facilities and grounds of Washington Yu Ying Public Charter School. Working closely with the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Assistant ensures campus maintenance and safety through collaboration with various committees and building specialists by conducting inspections and coordinating necessary maintenance for buildings, grounds, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with third-party vendors for services such as landscaping and pest control.
  • Oversee janitorial staff and subcontracted teams to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Manage the facilities repair request process to address concerns promptly.
  • Identify and report issues to contribute to a continuous preventative maintenance strategy.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve routine maintenance issues, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and landscaping.
  • Act as a contact point for security matters, liaising with the Facilities Manager and Director of Operations.
  • Ensure a safe environment by managing snow removal and maintaining clear walkways and entrances.
  • Participate in safety team activities, ensuring proper signage and barriers are in place, and engage in drills and traffic management.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in school facilities or building maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
  • Familiarity with electronic databases and software.
  • Ability to operate a minimum 10 ft. box truck.
