We are currently seeking a qualified Senior Civil Estimator to enhance our estimating team. This role is crucial in achieving our revenue objectives by spearheading cost estimation efforts during the proposal phase for various construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough reviews of contract documents for assigned project estimates.
  • Assist in developing pre-construction budgets.
  • Create and maintain spreadsheet templates for project estimates.
  • Formulate and implement project-specific bidding strategies.
  • Delegate estimating responsibilities to team members.
  • Compile a list of trades and solicit subcontractor bids.
  • Perform or oversee quantity take-offs for selected trades in both public and private projects.
  • Gather and clarify questions regarding plans and specifications from the project team.
  • Request pricing from material suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Assess equipment needs and obtain pricing information.
  • Calculate labor estimates and establish applicable in-house labor rates.
  • Analyze quotes from materials, equipment, and subcontractors prior to submission.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of estimates.
  • Conduct pre-bid meetings and assign tasks for bid day.
  • Manage bid protests as necessary.
  • Follow up with subcontractors regarding bid outcomes.
  • Prepare and dispatch bid proposals for various private projects.
  • Coordinate in-house pre-construction meetings with project management and estimating staff.
  • Support project managers during initial project setup and throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in owner pre-bid meetings and relevant training programs.
  • Update material and subcontractor databases as needed.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients and suppliers.

The ideal candidate will possess a BS or BA degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management, or equivalent experience. A minimum of 10 years in bidding heavy civil projects, including earthwork and underground utilities, is required. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, proficiency in software such as Excel and Microsoft Project, and the ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
