Position Summary:

We are in search of a highly qualified Senior Heavy Civil Cost Estimator to enhance our team. The successful candidate will possess extensive experience in civil construction, particularly in areas such as asphalt paving, earthwork, minor concrete demolition, and installation of wet utilities. This role is pivotal during the pre-construction phase, where you will be responsible for precise cost estimations and offering critical insights to facilitate informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform thorough quantity take-offs and cost assessments for civil engineering projects, focusing on asphalt paving, earthwork, minor concrete demolition, and wet utilities.
  • Review project documentation, including plans and specifications, to determine scope, materials, and labor needs.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather essential information for accurate cost estimates.
  • Create detailed bid proposals and pricing strategies aimed at securing projects while ensuring profitability.
  • Utilize advanced estimating software and tools to execute precise cost calculations and prepare bid documentation.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, material pricing, and labor costs to provide competitive and effective estimates.
  • Engage in bid review meetings, negotiations, and presentations with clients and stakeholders.
  • Offer mentorship and guidance to junior estimators as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related discipline (preferred).
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating, particularly in asphalt paving, earthwork, minor concrete demolition, and wet utilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and techniques.
  • Proficient in interpreting construction plans, specifications, and contracts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Advanced skills in estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, or similar tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated success in bidding and securing heavy civil construction projects.
  • Capability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
