Position Details: This role is primarily remote, with occasional travel required. Candidates must be residents of California, preferably within the greater Central Coast region, to align with the current geography of our Government Services clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with design engineers to develop innovative solutions for various engineering challenges faced by municipal clients.
  • Prepare construction documents and manage plan submissions in accordance with client and company standards.
  • Draft project specifications that align with design plans and engineering calculations.
  • Generate construction cost estimates and utilize relevant pricing resources to ensure accuracy reflective of local market conditions.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams to deliver comprehensive project packages that meet client objectives.
  • Review Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, shop drawings, materials testing, and contractor reports to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards under the guidance of a licensed engineer.
  • Draft and review Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Storm Water Control Plans (SWCP), Erosion & Sediment Control Plans (E&SCP), and stormwater reports to ensure adherence to municipal codes and state permit requirements.
  • Prepare Capital Improvement Project (CIP) documentation, including staff reports, contracts, amendments, and other necessary documents for permitting, design, bidding, and awarding of CIP projects in accordance with municipal procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Preferred EIT certification, or a commitment to obtain EIT within one year of employment.
  • Willingness to achieve Qualified Stormwater Practitioner (QSP)/Qualified Stormwater Designer (QSD) certification within two years of employment and maintain it throughout the duration of employment.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of design or construction experience in municipal projects (public or private).

Essential Skills:

  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with municipal processes related to Capital Improvement Projects.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as Adobe PDF and/or Bluebeam applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Highly organized, capable of adhering to company templates and procedures while managing multiple tasks at different stages of project development.

Travel Requirements:

  • Approximately 15% travel may be necessary for field meetings, including site visits for reconnaissance, design review meetings, or RFI discussions.
