Overview:
The Power Electronics Controls and Modeling division is dedicated to the dynamics modeling, algorithm development, and controller execution for switching power converters. This team plays a crucial role in a diverse range of power conversion systems essential for both automotive and energy sectors.

Position Summary:
Tesla is in search of a seasoned power electronics controls engineer to contribute to the advancement of high-performance control systems for various AC and DC products, including chargers, grid-connected inverters, and resonant DC-DC converters.

Key Responsibilities:
- Define controller specifications based on system performance criteria.
- Assess new topologies for their controllability and suitability for system requirements.
- Specify microcontroller needs and guide component selection.
- Develop control strategies and outline the necessary algorithms.
- Create dynamic models of the system and fine-tune controller algorithms to enhance performance.
- Convert algorithms into software implementations and collaborate with the firmware team for integration into the firmware framework.
- Conduct testing, validation, and troubleshooting of controller implementations.
- Utilize computer simulations (Matlab/Simulink, HiL, SiL) to explore new algorithms, modifications, or edge-case scenarios.
- Support safety and compliance evaluations.

Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent experience.
- Strong analytical capabilities with a solid foundation in device, circuit, and control theory.
- Proficient hands-on testing and troubleshooting abilities.
- Experience in embedded firmware development for real-time control systems.
- Familiarity with safety and compliance standards for grid-connected power electronics is advantageous.
- Understanding of grid operations is a plus.

Expected Compensation:
$104,000 - $348,000 annual salary, plus cash and stock awards, along with benefits. The pay offered may vary based on individual factors such as market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
