Assistant Coach for Women's Lacrosse

Position Overview:

Under the guidance of the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach for Women's Lacrosse will play a crucial role in identifying and attracting skilled and qualified prospective student-athletes in alignment with the program's recruiting strategy, adhering to NCAA, MIAC, and institutional standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct practice sessions, analyze game footage, and facilitate team meetings.
  2. Provide instruction to student-athletes on physical fitness, team dynamics, safety protocols, and sport-specific techniques on both individual and collective levels.
  3. Offer mentorship and guidance to student-athletes on essential life skills.
  4. Monitor and support the academic performance of student-athletes, ensuring compliance with athletic department standards and implementing corrective measures when necessary.
  5. Maintain satisfactory retention rates for student-athletes within the team and institution.

Additional Duties:

  1. Assist in managing budgets, fundraising initiatives, travel arrangements, and overall program organization as required.
  2. Engage with alumni and parents, facilitating communication and organizing relevant events.
  3. Participate in and help coordinate community service activities for the team.
  4. Support the organization and execution of camps and clinics.
  5. Oversee student workers, if applicable.
  6. Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.

Fellowship Terms:

The selected candidate must be accepted into a graduate program at Augsburg and maintain enrollment in a minimum of two courses per term (6 credits). The fellowship is structured for a duration of two years, with specific conditions regarding tuition benefits and responsibilities for non-tuition costs.

Compensation:

The fellow will receive comprehensive tuition benefits along with an annual stipend of $6,000.

Qualifications:

Minimum: A bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of playing or coaching experience, with a preference for candidates with recruiting experience. A valid driver's license is required.

Preferred: Familiarity with the MIAC Code of Ethics and adherence to MIAC and NCAA Division III guidelines, while maintaining a positive representation of the athletic program and the university.
