Position Title: Brewhouse Manager

21st Amendment Brewery is seeking candidates with extensive experience in brewhouse operations and management to lead and inspire our team in producing exceptional products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the brewhouse, batching, blending, and cellar operations within our co-pack facility.
  • Manage the flow of raw materials from the mill room to the bright beer tank, operating an automated 4-vessel, 100 bbl. brewhouse.
  • Coordinate the blending and batching processes for all ready-to-drink products and other non-beer items.
  • Conduct ongoing training for the team in brewhouse, blending, batching, and cellar operations.
  • Provide leadership, strategic planning, and technical guidance to department staff.
  • Participate in the recruitment and onboarding of new brewing team members.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and exemplary brewhouse environment.
  • Proactively promote the company's safety initiatives and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and best practices.
  • Develop, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures to meet stringent quality standards for production.
  • Focus on yeast health management, fermentation processes, and overall yeast handling.
  • Assess team performance and encourage innovative practices within the department.
  • Be prepared to assist in various roles within the brewhouse and cellar as needed.
  • Utilize practical knowledge and technical expertise to navigate tasks with limited information.
  • Communicate effectively across various levels of the organization to ensure timely information sharing.
  • Collaborate closely with the Quality Assurance and Packaging Departments.
  • Engage in safety leadership initiatives.
  • Support the recruitment of new brewing and batching team members.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for department personnel.

Qualifications:

  • A four-year degree in a Science-related field (e.g., Chemistry, Microbiology, or Food Science) is preferred. Alternatively, a brewing certificate from a recognized institution is acceptable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of production brewing experience, ideally exceeding 15,000 bbls/year, with automation experience required.
  • 3-5 years of management experience.
  • Ability to articulate skills, responsibilities, and expectations for various job levels.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Capability to lift up to 51 pounds.
  • Ability to raise arms overhead and twist (approximately 25%).
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and squatting (approximately 25%).
  • Competence in working safely around potentially hazardous machinery and chemicals.
  • Ability to work in a high-noise environment (approximately 75%).
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
