JOB SUMMARY:

This role involves performing essential repairs on small engine power equipment, including chainsaws and agricultural machinery, under the guidance of a Service Manager or experienced technician. The position provides opportunities to acquire new skills and techniques through hands-on training.

It is crucial for candidates to possess a basic understanding of engines, hydraulic systems, power transmission, air conditioning, and electrical systems relevant to the machinery offered by Goldman Equipment.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Execute basic service tasks as directed.

Enhance skills in the removal, disassembly, and refurbishment of components.


Conduct routine maintenance checks on fuel, power train, electrical, and hydraulic systems to ensure optimal performance, safety, and durability of the equipment.

Engage in Service training programs essential for skill development and knowledge of the products offered by the company.

Support senior technicians as required.

Ensure the upkeep of service vehicles, trailers, tools, and equipment.

Maintain a tidy work environment and carry out tasks in an organized manner.

Adhere to all safety protocols and participate in safety training sessions.

Complete all necessary reports and documentation associated with work assignments.

Account for all time and materials utilized in performing assigned tasks.

Conduct pre-delivery setups and inspections on new equipment as needed.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.

Strong mathematical skills.

Post-secondary education or training in heavy equipment mechanics, including electronics and hydraulics, is advantageous.

Two years of experience in repairing agricultural or outdoor power equipment, preferably with John Deere specifics.

Two years of experience in basic welding techniques.

Two years of experience with standard computer software and internet usage.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in the repair of outdoor power and agricultural equipment.

Basic understanding of engines, hydraulics, power transmission, air conditioning, and electrical systems related to the equipment sold by the dealership.

Ability to work on weekends and holidays as needed.

Proficiency in using Service Advisor and basic computer functions.

Ability to interact courteously and patiently with employees and the public.

Capacity to take initiative and organize responsibilities for maximum effectiveness.

Ability to think creatively and solve problems effectively.

Capability to understand and execute requests from upper management.

Proficient in operating vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes.

Strong technical skills.

Effective listening and written communication skills.

Good observational and interpersonal skills.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regular and punctual attendance is essential.

A valid driver's license is required.

Strong customer service orientation.

Exhibit positive energy and teamwork.

Must meet and exceed all requirements of the Service Setup Technician position.

Must possess a personal set of tools.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, the ability to distinguish and identify colors, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to loud.


The working environment while performing the duties of this job will require the employee to frequently work near moving mechanical parts and occasionally be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold (weather), extreme heat (weather), and vibrations.

The employee may occasionally be required to travel for meetings and to customer locations to repair equipment.

The working conditions in those instances will require the employee to be able to operate motor vehicles to navigate unfamiliar roadways and farming fields.
