Job Details

Alaska Heart Institute is seeking a skilled Medicaid Travel Coordinator to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Medicaid Travel Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating travel arrangements for patients receiving medical care outside of their local area. This includes arranging ground and air transportation, lodging, and other logistical aspects of patient travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Obtain authorization for local travel and air travel to ensure patient appointments are completed.
  2. Provide patients with approved accommodations, if authorized to stay overnight in Anchorage.
  3. Obtain certification of medical necessity for each visit outside of the plan of care to cover services.
  4. Collaborate with other team members and outside agencies to ensure timely travel arrangements.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college experience with medical terminology and/or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification preferred. One year of experience in a healthcare environment, with three years preferred.
