POSITION TITLE: Bilingual Adult Advocate

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time (35+ hours per week, may include evenings and weekends)

CLASSIFICATION: Salaried Non-Exempt

PAY GRADE: Level 16

REPORTS TO: Case Management Coordinator

SUPERVISION: N/A

ROLE: The Bilingual Adult Advocate will play a crucial role in the development and execution of services aimed at assisting adult victims of domestic violence. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive advocacy and connecting clients with essential services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions, including weekly support groups.
  • Collaborate with clients to create Service Plans, continuously monitoring their progress and adjusting plans as needed. Ensure that goals and objectives are clearly defined.
  • Offer employment counseling and referrals for job placement opportunities.
  • Connect clients with external resources for education, job training, and other community services.
  • Provide legal advocacy and emotional support during court proceedings.
  • Assist clients in obtaining Orders of Protection.
  • Deliver crisis intervention services to clients in need.
  • Act as an advocate and coordinator with external organizations, including social services, mental health agencies, and legal entities.
  • Conduct community presentations and training sessions for various audiences.
  • Serve as a liaison between Family Rescue and the broader community.
  • Collaborate with internal programs to ensure clients receive appropriate services.
  • Maintain effective case management and documentation, ensuring timely completion of required records and reports.
  • Conduct intake and screening processes for new clients.
  • Provide follow-up services to clients after they exit Family Rescue programs.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the collection and distribution of donations.
  • Conduct research and gather resources to support client needs.
  • Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of office spaces.
  • Provide transportation assistance for clients to attend appointments.
  • Support other programs within the agency as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in social services or a related field.
  • Consideration for an Associate's degree with one or more years of relevant experience.
  • High School Diploma with two years of applicable experience may also be considered.
  • Completion of a 40-hour domestic violence training is required within three months of hire.
  • City and/or state certification may be necessary.
  • CPR/First Aid certification is required within one year of hire.

Language and Communication Skills:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to effectively engage with diverse groups in various settings.
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and logically.
  • Proficiency in Spanish, including speaking, reading, and writing, may be required.
