Accounting Manager Job Description

At Verizon, we're seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Accounting organization, you'll play a critical role in driving business insights, identifying improvements, and implementing digital finance automation and visualization tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform accounting tasks and project assignments utilizing a combination of systems/IT and accounting skills.
  • Lead all aspects of the completion of complex analytical assignments and preparation of accounting-related reports.
  • Support leadership with analyzing and reporting on general ledger transactions and other accounting-related projects.
  • Coordinate with other finance teams to ensure complete and accurate accruals and simplify processes.
  • Lead the company's efforts to comply with the requirements of Sarbanes Oxley while ensuring compliance and adherence with controls for internal policies and external regulations.

Requirements:

  • Solid accounting knowledge across a variety of topics and the ability to self-direct, run projects, and meet deliverables.
  • Experience in the preparation of general ledger postings and account reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of FASB and SEC requirements, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, accounting best practices, and cross-functional accounting impacts.
  • Experience in continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis, and project management.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of accounting systems and applications.
  • Proven management skills.
