About the Role

At Verizon, we're seeking a highly skilled Senior Accounting Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Accounting organization, you'll play a critical role in driving business insights, identifying improvements, and implementing digital finance automation and visualization tools.

This is a hybrid role, with a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month. You'll have the opportunity to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on providing mentorship and direction to others.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform accounting tasks and project assignments utilizing a combination of systems/IT and accounting skills.
  • Lead all aspects of the completion of complex analytical assignments and preparation of accounting related reports.
  • Support leadership with analyzing, and reporting on general ledger transactions, and other accounting related projects.
  • Coordinate with other finance teams to ensure complete and accurate accruals and simplify processes.
  • Lead the company's efforts to comply with the requirements of Sarbanes Oxley while ensuring compliance and adherence with controls for internal policies and external regulations.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on the application of accounting principles.
  • Review the work of others and analyze the output for appropriate accounting treatment, completeness and accuracy.
  • Lead reviews for accuracy of journal entries, account reconciliations, and accounting classifications assigned to various records.
  • Lead accounting projects to ensure compliance and adherence with controls for internal policies and external regulations.
  • Direct efforts in developing, implementing, and maintaining systems, procedures and policies for the group.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in the preparation of general ledger postings and account reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of FASB and SEC requirements, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, accounting best practices, and cross functional accounting impacts.
  • Experience in continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis and project management.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems and applications including SAP, PeopleSoft, CPM/Essbase, Hyperion Financial Management, Blackline or related systems and applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or equivalent.
  • CPA certification.
  • Basic knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of accounting systems and applications.
  • Advanced understanding of report query and design.
  • Proven management skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and strong written and verbal communications skills.
