Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Services Representative to join our team at the University of Minnesota's Boynton Health Eye Clinic. As a key member of our front desk team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring a seamless experience for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welcome and direct patients, visitors, and other customers to the appropriate care area
  • Check in patients in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner, capturing or completing the registration process as needed
  • Collect and accurately collect co-pays or appropriate fees/payments, and collect documentation of informed consent to services
  • Provide patients with appropriate forms, questionnaires, and direct them to the appropriate care area
  • Resolves non-clinical patient issues, provides backup and coverage as needed, and prioritizes between functions to maximize efficiencies of clinic schedules and reduce patient waiting times
  • Communicate to patients information about the organization's services, including access to Urgent Care, Gopher Quick Clinic, Primary Care, Women's Health, Physical Therapy, Nutrition, Travel Clinic, and other areas of clinical services
  • Arrange any accommodation or interpreter services needed for the patient visit, answer telephone calls, respond appropriately, and redirect calls as needed
  • Maintain knowledge of appointment scheduling practices, policies, and procedures, and schedule appointments or procedures in clinic in an accurate and timely manner
  • Front desk resource/liaison for patients, providers, and staff, and maintain confidentiality of patient health data
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Office Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in a related healthcare or medical clerical position, preferably in a multicultural setting
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in clear, understandable English
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and ability to function with multiple priorities and interruptions
  • Flexibility with assignments and ability to perform a wide variety of front desk functions
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting a culture that respects and advances diversity and inclusion
