Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Duties
  • Ensure that every student feels acknowledged, valued, and challenged on a daily basis.
  • Promote a positive and secure learning atmosphere.
  • Design and internalize rigorous and engaging lesson plans, utilizing provided curricula and intellectual preparation tools.
  • When necessary, develop and internalize academically aligned lesson plans, unit plans, rubrics, and assessments.
  • Establish specific, ambitious growth objectives for all students and identify necessary resources to help them achieve these goals.
  • Innovate best practices to deliver engaging, differentiated instruction that is rigorous for all learners.
  • Implement school-wide or grade-level student culture systems and proactive classroom management strategies.
  • Regularly evaluate student work and academic data to adjust lessons, refine curricula, and inform instructional practices.
  • Maintain accurate and current student records and foster strong communication with students and their families regarding progress.

School and Professional Duties
  • Obtain required endorsements with financial support from KIPP Massachusetts within the first year of employment, along with free study assistance.
  • Engage in school-wide and individual professional development, including pre-service training and ongoing training throughout the academic year.
  • Take ownership of professional growth by seeking and implementing feedback from coaches and collaborating with colleagues.
  • Fulfill assigned duties, including classroom coverage and transition responsibilities.
  • Build strong relationships with families through participation in school events and consistent communication.
  • Be open to providing and receiving constructive feedback to foster a professional work environment conducive to accountability and improvement.
  • Collaborate with grade-level and content teams to address common challenges and share responsibility for all students.
  • Exhibit dependable attendance according to the school calendar and communicate proactively regarding attendance issues.

General Requirements

  • Participate in regional professional development and community events as required.
  • Demonstrate the ability to collect and interpret data, evaluate problems, and make informed decisions in a timely manner.
  • Exhibit self-awareness, flexibility, and emotional intelligence to support diverse student needs.
  • Utilize interpersonal and self-management skills to effectively support students' behavioral and emotional needs.
  • Communicate effectively in various formats with students, staff, families, and others.
  • Demonstrate physical mobility to execute duties effectively, including various physical movements.
  • Exhibit physical strength to lift materials and ensure student safety in emergencies.
  • Show manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks and operate office equipment.

Qualifications
  • A deep belief in the potential of all students.

  • Passion for the subject area and commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Minimum of 2 years of full-time teaching experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
