Position Overview

KIPP Massachusetts is seeking a dedicated and skilled Lead Teacher for our STEM Special Education program. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about fostering an inclusive educational environment that recognizes and nurtures the unique potential of each student.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Duties
  • Ensure that every student feels valued, affirmed, and challenged on a daily basis.
  • Create a safe and encouraging learning atmosphere.
  • Design and master engaging lesson plans and units, utilizing provided resources and tools for intellectual preparation.
  • When necessary, develop academically aligned lesson plans, assessments, and rubrics.
  • Set ambitious growth targets for students and utilize all available resources to help them achieve these goals.
  • Innovate and implement best practices for delivering differentiated instruction that meets the needs of all learners.
  • Apply school-wide or grade-level culture systems and proactive classroom management techniques.
  • Regularly assess student work and academic performance to refine instructional practices and curricula.
  • Maintain accurate student records and foster strong communication with families regarding student progress.

School and Professional Responsibilities
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, including summer training and weekly sessions throughout the academic year.
  • Take initiative in developing teaching skills by seeking feedback and collaborating with colleagues.
  • Fulfill assigned duties such as classroom coverage and supervision during transitions.
  • Build strong relationships with families through active participation in school events and consistent communication.
  • Embrace feedback from peers to cultivate a professional environment focused on accountability and improvement.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams to address common challenges and share responsibility for student outcomes.
  • Maintain dependable attendance and communicate proactively regarding any attendance issues.

Regional Responsibilities
  • Exemplify KIPP MA's Code of Conduct by acting with integrity and engaging in self-awareness and critical reflection.
  • Achieve required MTEL and SEI endorsements within the first year of employment, with support from KIPP MA.
  • Participate in regional professional development and community events as necessary.

KIPP MA provides robust support for teachers through experienced leadership and a collaborative staff dedicated to student success. Our leaders implement consistent systems and procedures that empower teachers to excel in their roles.

In addition to the responsibilities outlined, other duties may be assigned to foster a positive and productive learning environment.
