Position Overview:

The Staff Accountant plays a crucial role in managing the financial operations of Loon Mountain. This position focuses on revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and accrual accounting, ensuring accurate posting and reporting of daily sales while monitoring bank transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily sales audits, investigate discrepancies, and accurately record revenue across all resort locations.
  • Assist front-line staff in resolving guest transaction inquiries.
  • Prepare and distribute daily sales and labor reports to management.
  • Oversee weekly bank account activity reviews and reconciliations.
  • Monitor and reconcile inventory levels for various business units.
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger for multiple accounts.
  • Compile and distribute weekly and monthly reports for management and supervisors.
  • Analyze significant variances between budgeted and actual figures across departments.
  • Support the team with ad hoc analytical tasks as required.
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and intermediate proficiency in Excel.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Associate degree or relevant experience in accounting.
  • Understanding of the accounting cycle and principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills for calculations involving discounts, interest, and percentages.
  • Ability to analyze reports and spreadsheets with strong bookkeeping skills.
  • Capable of defining problems, collecting data, and drawing valid conclusions.
