Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Tax Specialist to join our team at the State of Nebraska. As a key member of our revenue tax team, you will be responsible for providing expert program expertise and analysis of complex tax programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Resolve complex tax program issues through thorough knowledge of laws, policies, regulations, processes, and procedures.
  • Examine, research, and resolve tax program issues arising from correspondence, protests, county official contact, taxpayer contact, and other assignments.
  • Investigate, analyze, research, and present proposed policies, processes, legislation, and regulations in assigned programs.
  • Monitor, analyze, and interpret legislative and policy developments.
  • Coordinate and/or lead the implementation of changes to policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Interpret and apply policies, regulations, and procedures within Revenue for county officials and taxpayers.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, or related financial field and two years' experience in complex tax program research and analysis.
  • Increasingly responsible work experience in business, accounting, or finance may be substituted for the education requirement on a year for year basis, in addition to two years' experience in complex tax program research and analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Audit experience.
  • Accounting experience.
  • Complex tax program experience.
  • GIS mapping experience.
