Position Overview:

The Financial Operations Manager is accountable for overseeing daily accounting functions and payroll activities. This role ensures the timely completion of month-end general ledger closings, account reconciliations, and the preparation of financial statements. The manager will supervise the analysis of receivables and payables, as well as journal entries, while adhering to GAAP and established policies to maintain the integrity of financial records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Accounting Department staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Establish departmental goals, organize workflows, and monitor productivity while providing necessary training and feedback.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance in all accounting subsystems, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll.
  • Oversee general accounting systems to assist management in controlling expenditures and ensuring compliance.
  • Manage the processing of payroll, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Develop solutions for various accounting challenges using established concepts and practices.
  • Prepare and review financial documents and work papers for annual audits.
  • Assist in generating monthly financial statements and reports, as well as the annual budget.
  • Support the Controller in budget preparation and address budget-related inquiries from managers.
  • Conduct various financial and analytical projects as required.
  • Prepare reports for the Senior Management Team.
  • Stay informed on financial trends and issues relevant to the organization.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary.

Safety Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of oneself and colleagues at all times.
  • Promptly report any hazardous situations or equipment to a supervisor.
  • Immediately report safety-related incidents to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Operate equipment safely to prevent injury.
  • Comply with legal and organizational driving policies.

Supervisory Duties:

Responsible for managing the General Accountant, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Cash Room staff, including hiring, training, and performance assessments.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with financial management practices in the resort industry.
  • Proficient in personal computer applications and software.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication abilities.
  • Capacity to work in a confidential and professional manner.
  • Leadership skills to mentor and guide staff effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to teamwork and continuous learning.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Education equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Five to seven years of relevant accounting experience.

Language Skills: Proficient in English.

Mathematical Skills: Strong analytical skills required.

Reasoning Ability: Capable of reviewing reports and spreadsheets, with strong bookkeeping skills. Ability to define problems, gather data, and draw valid conclusions.

Physical Demands: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.

Work Environment: A collaborative and collegial atmosphere grounded in trust, integrity, and accuracy.
