Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Billing Specialist is accountable for managing the financial operations of the organization, focusing on both accounts receivable and payable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all billing processes, including Medicaid, private insurance, HHS contracts, and various funding sources.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance the collection of fees and rents.
  • Monitor service units to ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines and proper utilization of funding sources.
  • Work in partnership with Admissions to identify client funding opportunities and optimize revenue collection.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the outsourced accounting firm.
  • Manage the preparation and supervision of all accounts receivable billing and collection records.
  • Facilitate bank deposits.
  • Engage with different entities regarding sliding fee scales.

General Responsibilities:

  • Complete all required online training courses in a timely manner, adhering to state and accreditation standards.
  • Participate in at least two annual training sessions focused on cultural competency.
  • Engage in staff training, team collaborations, and all mandatory meetings as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Proficient time management skills with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting is preferred; a minimum of one year of experience in accounting and medical insurance billing is required; experience in a nonprofit setting is highly desirable; familiarity with Electronic Health Records is a plus. Proficient computer skills and knowledge of office equipment are essential.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • First Aid/CPR certification or the ability to obtain certification is required.
  • A valid driver's license and insurance are necessary upon hire.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and navigate stairs.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
