POSITION OVERVIEW

The Lead Financial Analyst plays a crucial role in applying established accounting standards and practices to evaluate financial data, generate precise and timely financial reports, and uphold effective accounting control measures. As a key member of the Diocese of Orlando's financial team, this role is integral in achieving the objectives of the financial program through a methodical and disciplined approach to reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial statement assessments, ensuring prompt and accurate monthly reporting. This position also oversees the weekly processing of accounts payable, cash receipts, and other journal entries, adhering to the team's established workflow requirements for all assigned entities.

The Lead Financial Analyst will supervise a team of three (3) staff accountants, providing hands-on guidance in the processing of payable invoices, payment transactions, cash receipt documentation, payroll journal entries, bank account reconciliations, and general ledger account reconciliations. This role will also be responsible for onboarding and training new staff accountants.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Core Responsibilities:
  • Review, allocate, and validate general ledger reconciliations and schedules.
  • Ensure that reports, postings, reconciliations, and payments are processed in compliance with internal controls and procedures, aligning with general accounting principles.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of transaction postings within the general ledger.
  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for reconciliations, Balance Sheet evaluations, and weekly team processes.
  • Handle more complex journal entries and reconciliations as required.
  • Prepare and finalize the completion of the financial library each month-end.
Additional Duties:
  • Provide backup support to other Lead Financial Analysts for accounting, reporting, processing, and the delivery of essential reports.
  • Identify risks and opportunities for process enhancements and propose solutions for improvements.
  • Engage in special projects as assigned.
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills and foster team collaboration.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A bachelor's degree in a business-related field, such as business administration, finance, or accounting, along with a minimum of four (4) years of general accounting experience, is required. A CPA designation or active pursuit of one is preferred.

This position necessitates strong experience in system integrity review and internal analysis. Attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Word, PowerPoint, and other cloud-based software, are essential. Advanced knowledge of Excel, including macros and pivot tables, is preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The working hours for this position may extend beyond a standard 8-hour day. Flexibility to be available during evenings and weekends, as needed, is required. The candidate must be able to work effectively under stress and maintain composure in high-pressure situations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The ability to sit and stand for extended periods is necessary. Candidates must be able to reach, grasp, feel, and see both up close and at a distance. Proficiency in using standard office computer hardware and peripherals is required, with or without reasonable accommodation. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential. Tasks may involve light physical effort in sedentary to light work, which may include lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects and materials weighing up to 15 pounds.
