Position Overview:

The Finance Business Center at the University of Central Florida is looking for a seasoned professional to fill the role of Finance/Budget Analyst III. This position involves the management of financial transactions within the university's financial frameworks. The Analyst will be responsible for compiling, evaluating, and reconciling financial data, transactions, and budgets. They will ensure departmental accounts adhere to relevant regulations and collaborate with the Budget Manager on fiscal compliance concerning budgets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Gather, evaluate, and succinctly summarize financial data to create internal financial reports for executive leadership on a regular and as-needed basis.
  • Develop and assess financial information, including budgets and forecasts, aligned with the strategic objectives of the unit.
  • Track and report on budgetary and expenditure activities of the units, maintaining a strong relationship with unit Directors as the primary contact.
  • Evaluate outcomes, monitor discrepancies, identify trends, and propose enhancements to management.
  • Generate profit and loss statements and/or conduct reconciliations, reviewing work prepared by others.
  • Prepare and/or assess auxiliary financial statements.
  • Analyze and report on fund balances and cash flow positions.
  • Authorize journals, payment invoices, expense card transactions, and departmental purchases.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure prompt and accurate vendor payments.
  • Offer recommendations for business processes to enhance productivity and automation.
  • Serve as a backup for other Budget Analysts and accounting personnel as required.
  • Educate units on university fiscal policies and procedural updates.
  • Oversee routine accounting operations.
Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or a combination of relevant education and experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience as per Florida Statutes.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred skills and experience include:
  • Experience in roles such as Budget Analyst, Budget Manager, or Director.
  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Financial certifications like Certified Budget Specialist (CBS) and Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Familiarity with Workday, Adaptive Planning, and Huron Grants.
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel for task completion, project management, and reporting.
  • Experience in the higher education sector.
  • Experience in supervisory roles.
