Position Overview:

The Finance Business Center at the University of Central Florida is seeking qualified professionals for the role of Finance/Budget Analyst III. This position is responsible for executing financial transactions within the university's financial frameworks. The Analyst will engage in the collection, evaluation, and reconciliation of financial data, transactions, and budgets. Additionally, they will oversee departmental accounts to ensure adherence to relevant regulations and collaborate with the Budget Manager on fiscal compliance concerning budgets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Gather, assess, and succinctly present accounting data to create internal financial reports for senior management on a regular and as-needed basis.
  • Develop and evaluate financial information, including budgets and forecasts, aligned with the strategic objectives of the unit.
  • Track and report on budgetary and expenditure activities of the units, maintaining a strong working relationship with unit Directors as the primary contact.
  • Examine outcomes, monitor discrepancies, identify trends, and propose enhancements to management.
  • Generate profit and loss statements and/or perform reconciliations while reviewing the work of others.
  • Prepare and/or evaluate auxiliary financial statements.
  • Analyze and report on fund balances and cash flow metrics.
  • Authorize journals, invoices for payment, expense card transactions, and departmental purchases.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure prompt and precise payments to vendors.
  • Offer recommendations for business processes to enhance productivity and automation.
  • Serve as a backup for other Budget Analysts and accounting personnel as necessary.
  • Educate units on university fiscal policies and procedural updates.
  • Supervise routine accounting tasks.
Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree coupled with 4+ years of pertinent experience or a combination of relevant education and experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience as per Florida Statutes.

Preferred Qualifications:

Desirable skills and experience include:
  • Experience in roles such as Budget Analyst, Budget Manager, or Director.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Financial certifications like Certified Budget Specialist (CBS) and Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Familiarity with financial software such as Workday, Adaptive Planning, and Huron Grants.
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel functionalities for task completion, project management, and reporting.
  • Experience within the higher education sector.
  • Experience in supervisory roles.
