Job Objective

We are seeking a Heavy Equipment Service Specialist to join our expanding team and contribute to our customer service objectives in the field. The ideal candidate will possess a background in heavy equipment service and support, demonstrate a commitment to safety, and have a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe working environment in accordance with all safety policies and procedures, maintaining a clean and organized workspace free from safety hazards.
  • Employ various techniques and tools to inspect, assess, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues across a range of heavy equipment applications.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation on equipment and repairs to facilitate precise billing and service logs.
  • Overhaul and test machinery or equipment to guarantee operational efficiency.
  • Conduct performance tests on mechanical products and equipment post-repair or assembly to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Report any additional work required on units or visible signs of damage, including out-of-service conditions and safety concerns, to the service manager.
  • Perform cleaning, lubrication, and preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles as necessary.
  • Stay updated on changes in various models of equipment sold and serviced by distributors to enhance technical competencies and knowledge through both in-house and external training resources.
  • Execute other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Possession of a CDL B License.
  • High School diploma and completion of an accredited technical program in diesel engine/hydraulics/heavy equipment repair preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician/Mechanic is essential.
  • Must possess personal tools.
  • Experience with Volvo and/or other dealership or industry backgrounds is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using various diagnostic testing and tuning equipment.
  • Familiarity with computer systems and maintenance software is preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of technical software applications with relevant industry experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Working Environment

  • Involves lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and/or pulling; climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant finger dexterity.
  • Capability to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical assessment.
  • Requires successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
  • Exposure to working near moving mechanical parts and moderate noise levels.
  • Must maintain a clean driving record and possess a valid Driver's License.
  • This role requires the ability to obtain a DOT Medical Certification.
  • Involves working outdoors in various climates and temperatures, with the possibility of prolonged sitting.
